Leni Robredo is a model, not a goddess
Analysis and Opinion
By Joe America
Here’s the best way forward. Detach your ego from personalities and attach your brain to concepts. Let me explain.
Pinks are good people at about the 98% level. Thoughtful, patriotic, compassionate, constructive. Engaged. A very small share are arrogant, obnoxious, or stupid. But a large share is attached to Leni Robredo at the ego rather than the brain.
When Robredo endorsed Manny Pacquiao for the Senate they took it as a personal offense. Ego. The goddess had let them down. Insulted them and all they stood for.
Leni Robredo is not a goddess, she is a model. This is important to grasp.
Loyalty is a part of Leni Robredo’s character. She viewed Manny Pacquiao as a good soul who had helped her region after a devastating storm. He can be trusted, as an individual. She does not look at him and see “aspiring dynast” or “populist boxer” or “betrayer of Senator De Lima”. She looks at him and sees an individual, a humanist.
President Aquino had the same loyalty trait in his character, which is why he went with Chief Purisima to manage Mamasapano. Boy did he rile the purists with that sensible choice.
Those who look at Pacquiao negatively want Robredo to be their goddess, a woman who does no wrong, in their eyes. By their personal standards.
My gosh!
That impossible burdening of others is why Filipinos are always raging at one another. Taking personal offense if someone thinks or acts differently than they do. It’s why Roxas lost and people preferred the abusiveness of an imperfect Duterte. Duterte would never let them down. Because he’s a bum, and they know it.
Bums never let you down.
Pinks need to convert their idealism to a more flexible model.
That’s right,
Model.
A conceptual framework that can adapt to different ideas. That can respect Robredo’s loyalty without agreeing with all her choices. The conceptual strength to back her through disagreements, not favor a bum who, by being a bum, can never let anyone down.
Is Risa Hontiveros a good presidential prospect? You bet! So what if she leans more toward supporting urban laborers than the provincial poor. The CHARACTER is the same, and as President, she’ll do both.
Pinks can win in 2028 if they run a conceptual campaign, not an ego defense. They can win by respecting those with whom they disagree, but who want the same thing. An honest, more productive Philippines rich with jobs and good works. They can respect the Left. And respect dynasts who are not abusive. And respect populists who can help honesty succeed.
You’ll never get a god or goddess.
Stop expecting them.
Expect flaws and disagreements, but hold onto respect.
In fact, here’s a better idea. Build your model, not on a person, but on a flexible framework. Build a model with a wiggle. As in wiggle room. Cut good people some slack. Fit imperfection into your model. Keep your ego out of it.
And always, always, comprehend. Bums are bums.

Do you think that we’ll finally be able to have a good and deserving president in 2028 Joeam? I must admit I used to admire Leni Robredo, she is a doer but my admiration was lessened when she didn’t fight back in the 2022 election turn out. I voted for her noth as VP and during the presidential election. Maybe she’d be more decisive to run again after her stint as mayor of Naga. I admire Hontiveros, a fighter and clearly does research and study the subjects/topics/concerns at hand. Waiting for Vico Sotto to reach the right age. I really he will run. Clean government is what we should pray for.
VP Leni’s SALN took a major hit due to COMELEC fees imposed on her during Marcos Jr.’s electoral protest against her. There was the Piso para kay Leni donation drive, but COMELEC insisted she pay out of her pocket, so she had to borrow from her richer Robredo in-laws. The rules of the game in the Philippines favor those with money, so she probably decided it wasn’t worth the risk to her personal finances. And maybe even to her daughters’ safety, let’s not forget Uniteam with Inday Sara was still a thing then, someone who can threaten a Marcos like Inday Sara clearly did not too long ago can be a risk to Atty. Leni as well. I also noted that one daughter at least was always abroad during her term, I believe this was being prudent.
It’s hard to project. We saw some indications of candidates seeking backing from outside their party with Senator Pangilinan going full bore populist. And we saw hints of voters wanting “the good guys” rather than bums. But I’m not seeing a sustained effort. So I don’t know. I don’t think Robredo wants to do national politics.
Maybe another Aquino?
At this stage, half the country is practically polarized that no one will want to back a landed candidate, but rather a candidate some (if not most) will identify with: a swaggering demagogue promising instant action and prosperity. Unfortunately, this type of candidate will, of course, use despotism for personal gain.
We need more reformists than ever before, and beyond one family.
Hmmm, I think not but who can tell? My bookie is too shy to guess.
Hmm, I partly get the Filipino obsession with family names as I live in a part of Germany, the Free State of Bavaria, where the skies are always blue with some white clouds (joke lang, I am not gonna sing Sweet Home Alabama), the political family that ruled us here for 8 centuries is still mostly loved (unlike the Prussian royals the Berliners mostly hate now, as they usually sent their people to war), there are two global players owned by noble families (Faber-Castell who make pens and pencils, and my employer G+D Joey might be familiar with), one global player with an heir still owning a plurality of stocks (BMW), and at the Oktoberfest dynasties of innkeepers run the major tents. But seriously, aren’t the almost clones of a former President (Makoy) and former Senator (Ninoy) now in power, same roles, a bit comedic?
Hey, I fully get how values good and bad can be passed in families, not only in Game of Thrones, and in my present work, I feel almost like a Kapamilya, almost artista char. I also see how this expectation of magical leadership can be toxic. Maybe Atty Leni didn’t want to be exposed to the same excessive expectations as PNoy, so she decided not to sweat it in 2022. Iyong lahat iaasa sa iyo, at lahat isisi especially if you lack a clear majority.
leni did right, she has to save herself, mind, body and spirit, coz no one will. everyone was hankering for an all out war, so why not just do it without leni, eh! so, she disappoint a lot of people, me included, but we have been disappointed before. let bygones be bygones. and now I am happy for leni, the newly elect mayor of naga.
as for filipinos obsession with family names, it is mostly because we want to establish kinship, relationship, and see what we have in common, some common ground we can build on. I dont have same family names with the richest of the rich, but since they live in my electorate, I can check them out, trace their history, see how have they enriched the lives of people in our neck of the woods. or how have they corrupted those around them. but firstly we need names to put on those faces. always good to ID them. to see them is to know them.
Reading Dune and watching Lawrence of Arabia provides object lessons about the profits and pitfalls of being a charismatic leader forming a loyal base of followers who have to be motivated but then guided properly to achieve goals. Unfortunately the extremists on either side have reduced partisan politics to team sports, which becomes difficult in a largely extroverted society where participation (pakikisama) is paramount, and there is the fear of being ostracized for not agreeing with family or friends.
That I am sure that in private Robredo would have shaken her head at how some enthusiasts have taken up to turn support into near-idolatric adoration, so causing critics from the right-wing (who themselves also unabashed slavish members of the Duterte personality cult) to see this as yet another Aquino personality cult in their eyes.
Which brings us to having to search for new faces to take up the mantle. This in the face of a world now largely ruled by reactionaries and evangelists threatening to devolve civilization as we know.
Indeed, new faces are needed.
old names, new faces. grace poe’s son, brian poe llamenares has won his seat and will be public servant. many offsprings of politicos, new faces, old names, also won their seats. will they be extensions of their parents, or be their own person, just and caring, we’ll soon find out.
Soon = 5 or 10 years I suspect.
I wanted to say maybe it is time to quit associating people to the pinks or the pinklawans, but the pinks or pinklawans would not like that for sure.
I also wanted to say stop analyzing the pinks, but where is the fun in that?
I don’t want to cramp any style so carry on.
Same stance if Leni runs for president, she has my vote.
I do not care if she endorsed Paquiao, solong as she did not endorse Bato, mas matino pa si Bong Go dahil sa malasakit center nya na naramdaman ng marami.
Another Aquino, meaning Bam? I ‘d pick Risa, bt we will see.
As far as I can tell, Pink was a movement that lasted six months then became a fuzzy aura about a good woman, a movement that became all heart, no action.
it’s probly like a mactruck, you ca run full speed but you cannot run full speed all the time, everytime for that would surely consign the engine to an early grave, wear and tear, sooner than later. same with people. they cannot be expected to give all their best everytime, anytime, all the time. cut them some slack, rest them, let them recuperate, let them enjoy and smell the roses. but who really cares if pinks or the yellows die of too much work and burnout sooner than later, it is not everyone’s problem, e!
but let us be kind, let pink rest, and yellows too, they have lives to live, living to make, mortgage to pay, bills as well, familial obligations to fulfill and many other things to take on board. they cannot be expected to drop all just because they are pinks or yellows and must immediately be available for whatever issue is at hand. god, no!
pinks ebb like tides, there is low tide and there is high tide and tides cannot be rushed. wise fishermen observe and wait for the tide, and when conditions are okay, saka na long pumalaot.
those who think they can just rally the pinks by pointing the finger at them and accusing them of not doing enough, well duh!
I am proud pink, and I will not rise to any occasion not suitable to me. the rest can lump it! I am my own goddess.
Haha, as we all should be, k, as we all should be.
Leni “endorsing” Pacquiao and Abalos may have raised her eyebrows but I personally welcome this because it tells me she’s somehow willing to play the game. If you read all the articles about this “endorsement,” Leni never really confirmed nor denied. The “endorsement” was released by Manny’s and Abalos’ camps.
Her real endorsements were for ML, Bam, and Kiko as shown in her Facebook Page. Her “support” for Pacquiao, Abalos, and allegedly Marcoleta was good for optics for those who are not hardcore DDS or BBM loyalists.
Good points QC. My thinking is that even had she done a hard, loud endorsement, it is a wee small matter in the context of what she would accomplish as president. I shrug.
I think she’s both a goddess and a model, Joe.
OT, but related to the dumbing down of humanity by digital technology and how to solve it with the Oxford system of learning. Good read. I was educated in the Oxford system during college prep.
https://www.honest-broker.com/p/5-ways-to-stop-ai-cheating
that was a good read, Joey. thanks!
Have you ever heard of the Harkness table method? 1-3 especially reminded me of Harkness. 4-5 though i think can be replicated across the board at schools and trade schools here.
Verbal and handwritten, you’ll have to drop the teacher to student ratio way down. How’d you guys do it at UC Berkeley? i’d imagine the heavy lifting would have been grad students as teachers.
Berkeley uses elements of the Oxford method (heavy emphasis on tutorials led by what Americans call teaching assistants), but also uses the American model of seminars and discussions.
I’ve always likened TSOH to the Harkness method. i think sonny has talked about something similar in seminary as well.
link: https://katherinecadwell.wordpress.com/what-is-the-harkness-method/
Whether the teaching method is based on essentialism-perennialism (teacher-centered) or progressive (student-centered) methods, the most important factor is that of the teaching being able to guide the learning. In open-ended progressive methods such as Harkness there is a strong risk of students just deciding whatever they want to “learn” whether it’s true or not, requiring strong guidance from the teacher. I sometimes liken Harkness bandwagoners to have forgotten the entire point of the Socratic Method, which does require a strong authority guiding the open discussion.
So I’ll of course be pro- peer to peer (or student centered) , Joey. likening teacher centered as oppressive, like our last discussion, soul-draining. learners should learn on their own. sure point the way , take a passive approach as teacher (or expert), but the learning has to be done by the learner. none of this force feeding stuff. me expert me teach you!!! make mistakes , learn from ’em. enjoy the ride. I’ll not revisit the whole experts dependency discussion, its the wrong way forward. save Joe the moderation button pushing. 😉
But vis a vis VP Leni, this is exactly Joe’s goddess and model dichotomy.
Goddess = something to kowtow and worship; put in a pedestal. eg. experts. fear me!!! follow me!!!
Model = you have to form this yourself and go forth and conquer the world (or DDS). more versatile.
=====
“Model.
A conceptual framework that can adapt to different ideas. That can respect Robredo’s loyalty without agreeing with all her choices. The conceptual strength to back her through disagreements, not favor a bum who, by being a bum, can never let anyone down.”
=====
I prefer models.
Teacher-centered learning is not necessary oppressive, and student-centered learning is not necessarily expansive. The detriment is when there is an uneven application of the model, whichever one it is. I would argue uneven application of the student-centered model is far more dangerous to developing minds. I think you’re getting the wrong take away here again.
Litmus test time:
what you’ve described is a spectrum
here:
teacher——–center——–student
I’d be towards the student (hell as close to it as possible)
Where would you be, Joey?
Educational models are not a spectrum in the first place. There are pros and cons of each, until through results humans in the modern age settled upon the broad model categories of essentialism/perennialism and progressivism. There are also hybrid models that attempt to strike a balance (which mostly fail).
It seems like you’re starting to go on another tangent again to confirm your pre-existing biases, missing the entire premise of the blog I shared. I’m sorry, I don’t have the energy to do a back and forth that will end up being exhausting.
fast forward to now and theres teacherless schools now with just A.I. in Texas i think.
Well if Texas wants to get dumber, that’s the choice of Texas voters. Montessori schools are unattainable for normal families.
“Exams weren’t the only way to build a reputation at Oxford. I also saw people rise in stature because of their conversational or debating or politicking or interpersonal skills.
I’ve never been anywhere in my life where so much depended on your ability at informal speaking. You could actually gain renown by your witty and intelligent dinner conversation. Even better, if you had solid public speaking skills you could flourish at the Oxford Union—and maybe end up as Prime Minister some day.”
=====
Very intrigued by this system. like Harry Potter if every thing just happened around those dinner tables without those dang flying owls!
But the no technology too is a nice touch.
karl, is there anything similar whether school or specific programs in the Philippines like so?
The Philippines needs to get one educational method right to begin with, not being bandwagoners jumping from one to another like the recent switch in the last decade. The teaching method itself is not what is broken, whichever the method. What’s broken is the educational system and the teachers it produces that rely more on authority than expanding minds.
agree. philippines minus teachers = expand minds.
“Teacher, leave them kids alone!!!” — Pink Floyd
Not sure where DepED is now with the whole Starlink connection but with A.I. eg. like https://www.khanmigo.ai maybe teachers can be phased out completely.
That’s not what I meant. Without teachers to guide the discussion, then might as well not have schools or students.
Also that’s not the implied meaning of the Pink Floyd song, which is not possible to understand unless one knows the British boarding school culture.
are all schools in England, boarding schools?
No.
With no teachers or peers, who is going to guide the likes of you, there could be mini yous or larger yous out there.
Once your uncontrollable rabbit hole mode is in motion wittingly or unwittingly some one who understands how to moderate must be around.
We don’t need gods, we need models.
Ha, wonderful Tanod work! Nothing beats librarians with guns. 🤣😂🤣
Hahaha
It always amuses me that those who do not like rules and structure still enjoy the benefits of a civilized and organized society.
Camp Pendleton and Oceanside are a short drive from here. I know quite a few opinionated retired E-3s.
yes
what we need are honest: umpires, brokers, arbiters, adjudicators, regulators, comptrollers, guardians and the like.
The word etc. would make someone smarter if he place it after the first example
As to the writer of that blog, his blog name has no relation to “broker” in the sense of a financial transaction facilitator 😅
Models now are 6 foot beauties with vital statistics of a mannequin and brains of a miss universe, Diana Prince or wonderwoman stats, that is both a model and a goddess and Leni is just Leni.
But she’s a role model.
LCX this is one thing I got worth mentioning in this topic.
Knowledge is knowing that a toamato is a fruit and wisdom is after years of trying perhaps if the first try is not yucky….widom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
I put LCX because Joey might take it against me, hehehe
Or using talong and kalabasa (also fruits) as a vegetable 😅 An allegory on how perception can be different from reality haha
You put me cuz you remembered my favorite was cherry tomatoes, karl!!! lol.
Oh yes
Some thoughts:
1.) During the French Revolution, political parties emerged from political clubs (salons).
1a.) Revolutionary France political clubs were centered around the followers of certain personalities, often affiliated with a particular salon and/or an arrondissement (district/neighborhood) of Paris.
1b.) The naivety of nascent political clubs often swung their views wildly, or fractured into groups with diametrically opposing political views (e.g. the center-left Jacobins split into the ultra radical Montagnards and ultra reactionary Girondins).
1c.) Fighting and purity testing between political clubs eventually devolved into the Reign of Terror and anarchy, further fracturing republicanism until Napoleon seized power.
1d.) Spanish Republicanism was influenced by the neighboring French Revolution, with somewhat less excess until the Spanish Civil War (which occurred much later).
1e.) The Ilustrados were greatly influenced by Enlightenment ideas filtered through the French Revolution and the Cortes of Cádiz.
2.) During the Napoleonic interregnum of the constitutional July Monarchy after the defeat of Napoléon Bonaparte, French politics had largely coalesced around three major parties: the progressive Movement Party, the centrist Third Party, and the conservative Resistance Party.
2a.) Progress by definition is “to move forward or onward,” while conservative by definition is to “maintain” something (status quo implied).
2b.) The Movement Party championed expanding rights and suffrage, led a coalition of progressives, proto-socialists, proto-anarchists to overthrow the July Monarchy which was seen as being too conservative (it was actually moderately liberal).
2c.) The resultant French Second Republic eventually broke down to political purity testing demands by radicals, progressives who sympathized with those ideals, and inaction by liberals. This allowed the legitimately elected president Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte to engineer a self-coup d’état which ended the French Second Republic.
I will stop the historical narrative here. But key takeaways:
1.) Progressivism without moving forward is not progress.
2.) Liberals (center-left/center-right) can often be affected by inaction.
3.) A foot forward is still a success, and should be celebrated as such. It should be followed by the other foot.
4.) Steady steps forward while making sure gains are secured creates longer lasting progress than trying to do everything at once and failing.
5.) Purity testing inhibits progress and risks self-destruction.
6.) Compromising together with those who want the same eventual result, but argue about how to get there, and how fast is better than not having any results. Just split the baby.
7.) Anything other than the above is an acknowledgement that fighting over the meaning of words or the strength of planned actions is more important than moving the status quo forward.
Terrific summation. Etch the seven points on a stone tablet.
“6.) Compromising together with those who want the same eventual result, but argue about how to get there, and how fast is better than not having any results. Just split the baby.”
This point made me think of Ridley Scott’s “the Duellists”, the true story i think reads better than the movie.
its similar to the Dems over here especially with my girl AOC, she’s trying to make a name for herself but i think she just needs to peel her self off of Bernie now, just the optics of a hot chick and an old dude doesn’t look good.
But theres a value in duel, in debate. any progress has to undergo these duels and debates. this is where the Dems screwed up here, just tried to stifle opposing views all to tow the party line. they lost. will keep on losing til this happens.
VP Leni has to make her case about not focusing on PBBM or VP Sara, just leave them behind. talk and focus on AI and BPO and/or AI and Education, theres so many issues to champion going forward.
I deleted your other post as argumentative at a personal level.
was that the Maria Montessori one? i’ll rework it. i wanna hammer down this individualized education. can i continue that line of argument?
Among other things. Joey has said straightforwardly that he sees no point in debating further yet you egg him on. You’ve made your point. He gave his view. Our job here is not to prove we can win arguments but to gain such enlightenments about the Philippines and promote various advocacies that are aimed at inspiring Philippine development. You tend to obsess on tangential points and go down what we have termed as rabbit holes that produce few enlightenments, use up a lot of space, and irritate people. Myself included. You can participate here or not. Up to you.
Joe, since i have a lot of stock knowledge now re BPO and AI ; and AI and Education (teacherless schools), all thanks to arguing with Joey.
can I just convert it to an article then?
working title: Hey VP Leni, have the Pinks/Yellows focus on AI and BPO as well as AI and Education instead!!!
A good application of your excess energy. lol
No, Democrats lost in 2022 because the center-left core’s leadership catered *too much* to small special interest groups along the party’s fringes who shout very loud but are not large enough to bring votes. My point is not to be afraid to tell the fringes to get the hell back in line and work as part of the party coalition, or GTFO. This applies to the Philippines too with regards to the Makabayan-type far left.
A debate is not a duel. In a duel, one side dies. The purpose of a debate is to convince the other person/group to shift their viewpoint towards one’s own to become an ally. If the other side is simply to be killed then there’s no point at all in debating.
Don’t personalize stuff so much. To use AOC, any serious observer would’ve noticed that AOC shifted towards the center, as has Bernie after his disastrous courting of the loud fringe complainers in 2016.
“Don’t personalize stuff so much.”
I actually didn’t it was a joke, that didn’t pass muster. ironically about debate.
Peak irony is when irony itself is misapplied.
It actually wasn’t. it was perfect as joke and metaphor. like a chef’s kiss. you would’ve appreciated, Joey.
Irony like accidents just happen.
Right. To expound on my prior musings from other articles, it is the role of leaders to guide the conversation. Often those leaders come from a society’s elites. Being an elite is not bad in itself (Duterte is also an elite but masquerades as a Juan), but not being able to separate the academics of policy ideas and the ability to communicate is probably the biggest problem of “good” Filipino elites. To quote Samuel L. Jackson’s Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction: “English, motherf*cker, do you speak it?” Too often I see Filipino elites measuring their words, which may end up being too “flowery,” then end up seeming out of touch even if they may care (PNoy somewhat had this problem. Roxas severely had this problem). One can be earnestly direct without being crude like the Dutertes and their allies. When I interact with DEs, the conversations are all frank (sometimes too honest lol) once they quickly realize I’m not an American trying to lord over them but one who tries to understand them as an equal human. Communication is key to being relatable. Keep the academics of policy in the implementation once the win is secured.
Without having our side having leaders that people want to follow, people will just follow someone else. The historical narrative opening with the fractured French political clubs centered around arrondissements of Paris can be overlayed to local dynastic power centers and the idea of the Philippines being a “national village.” In the absence of leadership, stuff tends to devolve into theatrics and purity testing. On our side we need strong leaders to find a way to focus the passions of those who are more left of center-left, who while often passionate often lack follow through. While focusing the passions, there is also a need for self-identified progressives to temper idealism with pragmatism, just like steel hardened through tempering becomes stronger, more flexible and less brittle.

If only the best foot is used to go forward there would be a lot of hopping and skipping then dragging the other foot, that other foot will end up the best foot and may be mediocre or a hidden gem.
The upside is even despite being the lame foot, a foot planted still allows for the best foot to move forward again.
If you keep your feet burning on the ground you will be humble but will not go anywhere.
The downfall of the Hasburgs because of accumulated debt which all the silver in the world could not pay led to a slow chain reaction of the downfall of the monarchies in Europe, Communism made the royalty of England mere status symbols….sort of
The Hasburg’s Philip II has the honor of our nation being named after him.
The Has beens or Hasburg’s downfall gave rise to the bank of England through their banking reforms. Italy which was also a huge creditor to the Hasburg’s became what? The mafia? Fascists?
Spain and Portugal led the way, the Dutch followed. The Germans almost made their move in Asia if not for the Americans and the rest is history.
Open to correction and filling in the blanks by Irineo and Joey.
Accumulated inefficiencies once the Spanish Habsburg Empire got too big creating opportunities for corruption was a factor in the fall of the Spanish Habsburgs, yes.
The bigger cause was eventual bad leadership caused by inbreeding (to maintain dynastic control under Salic primogeniture). This inbreeding caused mental deficiencies that got more severe with successive generations. Most famously, Carlos II was a slobbering imbecile whose inability to sire a heir ended the Spanish Habsburgs.
The second big cause was severe depopulation in the metropolitan due to the Plague of Seville, reducing the manpower for wars with the new upstarts (England, Netherlands) and available laborers.
Yes, the English, French and Dutch pirates attacking the galleon trade (affecting silver shipments) drove one of the final nails into the coffin, but were not the main cause. The silver narrative was probably popularized at a later date by the English especially due to religious rivalries with the Protestant Dutch and the recently Protestant English. It was in the interest of those two nations’ own national narratives to paint the Spanish Habsburgs as decadent fools, compared to those nations’ own superiority.
I was thinking of foreign mercenaries but that plague killed a lot from all sides.
So foreign mercenaries would be of little to no help unless they are imports from faraway like Pinoy warriors.
too much foot gazing, just move, for godssake! look at senate chief escudero using the president’s sona to delay sara’s impeachment. the sona is only 4hr long and to think it will take the senate lest two days preparation in order to attend. the president should postpone the sona to july else the president is seen as conniving with escudero and vice versa. by 30 june, sara’s impeachment will expire if no action is taken.
maybe another foot gazer senate health advocate bong go should shift his attention to the fast rising HIV infection among 15 – 25 years old, there has been increase of 500 per cent, with 57 new cases daily. instead of bong go just delving into mental health of young people. there is a new near pandemic on the rise and that is HIV, not monkey pox, or mental health. bong go ought to give HIV what it deserved: massive prevention drive rather than cure. antiretrovirals are very expensive and ought to be covered by philhealth.
What is the next excuse…nothing left but to sty kapal mukha with Vicki Brlo Botox to keep.his chin up.
Buti pa si Heart may puso.
Am no Bong Go apologist, but I figured him out first than Marcoleta.
It is all about touching your target figuratively and literally( non malice type). Imee did the same but they felt Bong Go more.
https://senatorbonggo.ph/press-release/Bong-Go-urges-DOH-to-ramp-up-efforts-in-combating-HIV-calls-for-public-to-avail-govt-support
@Joey,
On your mental illness and hemophilia train of thought.
Because Felipe was so mischievous when young and disagreeable as an adult, Charles V kept saying Felipe, No!!!!!
Thus we have Filipinos.
Hat tip to my late dad for coming up with that narrative.
It is expensive to conquer the world, but the would be conquerors mustn’t do the same errors or do the same error but in another variation, thus we have IMF and WB and US debt.
This is the first time I’ve heard this joke. I’m going to borrow this from your dad lol!
He would love that.
Hemophilia was later, but that was also due to inbreeding. The noble families of Europe either descended from the rests of the Roman elite or from Germanic warrior clans, originally. These were indeed natural leaders, so in less educated times, people looked up to them.
Looking at Filipino political families, there is probably more inbreeding. Among descendants of the great Vicente Sotto, there is Tito Sotto and Vico Sotto. like the story of Einstein and Marilyn Monroe, where Einstein said, “What if they get my appearance and your brains?”
Filipino political families also often lack the family traditions that, for instance, prevent British royalty from backsliding. Their scandals show that risk, good they don’t rule anymore.
Another nice one.
Got curious so… in Mayor Sanchez place there was a study.
Documented Cases in Laguna
A study conducted in Barangay Dayap and Poblacion Kanluran in Calauan, Laguna revealed the presence of consanguineous marriages within these communities. The relationships reported ranged from first cousin to third cousin, indicating a cultural or social acceptance of such unions in specific localities.
I meant Philippine elites. This is how Filipino Presidents are related.
It looks far more interlocked than the genealogy of European royalty.
The family trees of Philippine Vice-Presidents are a bit less interlocked.
So Dynasties are statistically human nature.
Nice catch! Whoa!
Any worshipping other than your God is sick.
Blind obsession, see no wrong hear no wrong then with just one disappointment it will turn to hate and despise.
Just like any pop or rock star.
This sabihin mo sa poon mo when talking to a dds or any other clique you despise is also not productive.
Funny that this AI llm varieties are called models. Maybe for their expermental nature I do not know.
Ok I’m going to go with something I’ve been considering for years:
To me there seem to be very few pre-Spanish ideas of the responsibility between members of Filipino society outside of respect/fear of power and gift-giving/gift-receiving. Similar to the incomplete absorption of the prior influences of Hinduism and Buddhism, the Christian overlay as transmitted by the Spanish seemed to be viewed in this cultural understanding (e.g. Hara Humamay eagerly accepting the Santo Niño as an object of power that might help her husband Rajah Humabon re-assert power over his relative-by-marriage Datu Lapu-Lapu). In an ancient barangic society where members can just pack up their things and leave to another chieftain’s territory, there doesn’t seem much incentive for long-lasting relationship building or being responsible for anything except in the moment.
In contrast the East Asian sphere had not only trade and marriage contact amongst neighbors, but also religious and philosophical contact all which constantly flowed back and forth to be further elaborated. An important concept in the East Asian sphere is the emphasis on responsibility with regard to relationships between two people or groups. The way this concept is commonly expressed is through the metaphor of a reflection or mirror, which can be translated into English as being a model worthy of emulation by subordinates. The core virtues worthy of being reflected are:
1.) Trustworthiness (or sincerity)
2.) Benevolence (or generosity)
3.) Righteousness (or to be just)
4.) Propriety (or morality)
5.) Wisdom (to acknowledge one does not know all)
Culturally these virtues are expressed in:
1.) The Confucian disciple Mencius’ Five Relationships (五倫; wǔlún) in which an elder (brother) should be a good example and mentor to the junior (brother), while the junior should respect and listen to his elder’s advice.
2.) The Japanese proverb “Children are a reflection of their parents” (子供は親の鏡; kodomo wa oya no kagami).
3.) The Vietnamese philosophical precept “The parents’ responsibility is to be a mirror to the children” (Cha mẹ làm gương cho con).
4.) The Korean proverb “Beans come out from where beans are planted, and red beans come out from where red beans are planted” (콩 심은데 콩나고, 팥 심은데 팥난다; Kong simeundae kongnago, pat simeundae pat nanda) which means a parent (or leader) is responsible for guiding their child (or subordinate).
