“We will fight evil as it comes,” sabi ni Senator Antonio F. Trillanes IV sa aming conversation. Ginamit niya ang pronoun na “we” in reference to Magdalo, from whence he comes. “Isa itong collegial body,” sabi niya, “so, ang decision ng buong body ang sinusunod naming lahat.”
Akala natin nagsosolo si Senator Trillanes sa kanyang paglaban kay President Duterte. Hindi. Lumalakas ang suporta niya sa social media; tila baluwarte niya ang Facebook. Alam ninyo ba na phenomenal ang pagtanggap ng mga netizens sa artikulong Tao Pala Siya? Mahigit sa 10,000 shares sa Facebook. Mahigit 22,000 readers sa The Society of Honor website. Higit pa sa isang libong likes sa Facebook. Wala nga itong sinabi sa 5,000,000 daw na tagasunod ni Mocha Uson sa FB, pero kumpara sa dating matamlay ang tingin ng tao kay Sonny Trillanes, dahil sa mga gawain niya laban sa administrasyong Duterte, eh lumakas at lalakas pa ang 33,000 na taong sumisimpatiya o interesado sa senador. Pero iba ang bilangan ng readership sa social media vs. circulation figures ng dyaryo. May tinatawag na lurkers, yung mga taong nagbabasa pero walang komento at walang pinipindot na like o ano mang feeling; hindi ito nabibilang. At ‘di gaya ng dyaryo, nababalikbalikan ang social media articles, pwede i-search sa Google, simbilis ng kidlat andyan na sa harapan mo, hindi hassle gaya ng sa dyaryo, maghahanap ka pa ng old issues o clippings kung may naitabi ka. So, yang 33,000 na yan, ‘di accurate yan. Pwedeng pumalo ng 100,000 readers and growing ang artikulo sa internet.
(Si Joe America nga pala ay isang banyaga na may pagmamahal sa ating bayan. Hindi siya Philippine citizen, pero ang kanyang anak na lalake ay ipinanganak dito, at napamahal na sa kanya ang kakulitan natin bilang isang bayan. Isa ring malalim na balon ng pagmamahal sa Inang Bayan ang pinanggagalingan ni Sonny. Nakikita ninyo ba ang lagablab ng mga mata niya kapag nagtatanong siya sa Blue Ribbon Committee? Para siyang bulkan na naguumapaw ang nagbabagang pyroclastic flows—intense siya—pero hindi ko pa siya nakikitang uminit ang ulo, wala siyang problema sa temperament.
Mahirap kasi na ang isang lider ay mainitin ang ulo. H’wag na tayo lumayo. Tingnan ninyo ang asta ng ating pangulo. Para ngang natutunaw na siya sa pagka-hibang o galit. Meltdown yata ang tawag duon.
Oo, nakikita naman natin. Nagkakagulo na ang buong mundo niya sa senate subcommittee pero mukha bang gusto nang manakmal ni Senator Trillanes? Gusto na lang ba niya daanin sa suntukan o draw? Tipo bang magwo-walk na siya sa galit at frustration kasi halos kuyugin siya ng mga kaalyado ng pangulo? Ang buhok niya na ‘di nagugulo kahit giyera mundial na, titindig ba or kukulot dahil sa suklam? Ang mga sagot sa katanungang ito ay: No. Hindi po. Kita naman sa tv.
(Lumihis muna tayo. Yung mga baby boomers katulad ko, alam ang nangyari sa debate ni Richard Nixon at John F. Kennedy. Rattled si Nixon, pinagpapawisan. Si JFK, cool lang, hindi natataranta. Kitang-kita yun ng mga Amerikano sa tv, at maraming nagsasabing iyong partikular na kaganapan na iyon ang dahilan kung bakit nanalo siya bilang 35th president of the United States in 1961.)
So, cool si Sonny kahit na may dinadala siyang nagbabagang poot. Inspiring siya pagmasdan sa question and answer. Parang walang alinlangan, totally dedicated, 100 per cent present. Pero hindi lang yata dedicated, committed po ang tao. “We will fight evil as it comes,” pakatatandaan. Kaya kawawa si Davao Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte nang tanungin niya—isang inosenteng tanong kung may tattoo ang vice mayor sa likod. Kagimbal-gimbal ang mga sumunod na nangyari at nangyayari pagkatapos niyang sumagot ng yes. Hindi niya akalain na may alam pang mas malalim ang senador.
Ang matikas na pagsalungat ni Sonny sa Extra-Judicial Killings (EJK) at sa pagpalusot sa Bureau of Customs ng P6.4 billion worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride o shabu ay hindi isang pasyalan sa Luneta o pagtatampisaw sa Bora. Hinihintay niya ang pag-issue din ng waiver ni Presidente Duterte; darating pa ba?
Ano sa tingin niya, paano ba bababa ang pangulo, tanong ko. Sakit, kusang magre-resign o ang hataw ng International Criminal Court, aniya. Wala nang ibang option, walang option na bayolente, sapagkat ayaw daw nilang maging halimaw para mapuksa ang isang halimaw. Peaceful means pa rin ang nasa arsenal niya, lahat gagawin niya para maihinto ang gulong ng EJK, ang pagpasok ng bawal na droga sa Pilipinas, ang pagtago ng nakaw na yaman.
Maari bang magkaroon ng isa pang People Power? Sabi ni Senator Trillanes, pwede, pero ibang anyo.
At tinuturing niya ba na isang bayani si Ninoy Aquino? “Noon hindi,” sagot niya, “pero habang tumatagal, tumataas ang tingin ko kay Ninoy. Yung tumayo siya sa pagkakaupo niya sa eroplano para sumama sa boarding party na puros sundalo, isang kabayanihan yun. Alam na niya ang mangyayari pero sumama pa rin siya ng maluwalhati.”
At si Vice President Leni Robredo, ano ang masasabi niya? “Decency oozes out of her,” he said. “In light of what’s happening now, with Duterte the way he is, kitang-kita ang importance ng goodness in a person.”
Kasalanan ba ng 16 million kung bakit nagkaganito? “It’s not the fault of the people who voted for him,” he said.
Binanggit niya na hindi mahirap ang pamilya ni Presidente Duterte. “Marami silang pag-aari na lupain sa Davao. Governor ang tatay ni Rodrigo Duterte. Laki sa layaw ang pangulo; maraming hangups kasi nga mayaman. Nakabaril sa San Beda, hindi naparusahan. Nakita niya ang downfall ng father niya bilang political leader at ayaw niyang mangyari sa kanya ang dinanas nito. To be in power forever ang gusto niyang mangyari. Purge of his enemies ang style niya.”
“Naging abogado si Digong, at isa siya sa mga prosecutors ng Davao City. Na-appoint siya ni Cory na OIC-Vice Mayor ng Davao nuong 1986 after the People Power revolution. Pagka assume ng mayorship noong 1988, tinatag niya ang Davao Death Squad o DDS. Sa pag-angat niya, lumitaw ang twisted value system niya,” patuloy na kwento ng senador.
Paano nanalo bilang presidente si Duterte? “Romantic tayo as a people,” he answered. “When we see a person, we turn him into something he is not.”
“Marami siyang binasag na social taboos pero nagsawalang kibo tayo. Minura ang Pope, hinayaan lang natin. The biggest lie during the campaign was that Duterte was pressured to run for the presidency, That it was like a spur of the moment thing. No. Duterte’s presidential project started years before the election. Akala natin wala siyang agenda. Meron.”
“He did the rounds, flirting with the public at na-intrigue ang Pilipino. Nang naging substitute siya sa candidacy ng isang unknown, hinayaan lang natin. Na Duterte ang karamihan,” Senator Trillanes said.
How does he relax? He likes watching movies, yung bida si Tom Cruise, Will Ferrel at Mark Wahlberg, mga paborito niya. Gusto niya ng love stories. Sa kulungan, gustong-gusto niya ang romantic drama film na The Notebook.
Religious ba siya? Hindi daw, pero spiritual siya, believing in the primacy of God’s will.
Ano ang mangyayari sa 82 per cent job approval rating ni Presidente Duterte? “The real picture will be revealed,” yun lang ang sagot niya.
Magtapos tayo sa pagka-Magdalo niya. “We appreciate gestures of support,” he said. “Pero tuloy lang kami, we will fight evil as it comes.”

Napanuod mo ba ang sagutan nila ni Sen. Enrile tungkol sa maraming biyahe niya sa China para sa usaping Scarborough. Kabastusan ang pinakita niya nuon at pati pag-walkout. Bastos siya nuon at lalo pa siyang bastos ngayon,
CJM, napanood ko yon. Pareho lang silang bastos ni Sen. Enrile. Ang kaibahan lang ay kilala na natin ang likaw ng bituka ni Enrile. Pero paano ba mae-equate ang kabastusan laban sa pagnanakaw at paggamit ng posisyon upang makuha ang mga pansariling interest.
Si Sen. Sotto matinding pangongopya ang kaso bukod sa paglaganap ng kabobohan sa senado. Si Sen. Pacquiao? I don’t need to say more. How about senators na nakukong dahil sa pandarambong kagaya ni Jinggoy, Enrile at Bong Revilla? Marami pang tulog sa pansitan na senador. Mga walang malalim na dahilan kung bakit nakaposisyon. Hindi ko na isasama ang mga kongresista sa Lower House at mas malala ang dipresya doon.
Kung ang kabastusan ay lilitaw dahil sa kabastus-bastos na mga kawatan sa senado ay okay na ako kay Sen. Trillanes. Si Sen. Mirriam nga napagpasensyahan natin kung kabastusan lang pero basta laban sa korapsyon at kagaguhan na bumabalot sa bansa ay pipiliin ko na kesa kay Enrile at sa iba pang senador o mambabatas na kagaya ni Speaker Alvarez.
Bhin Ab, salamat sa iyong pananaw. Hindi ko binabanggit ang pagequate ng kabastusan sa pagnanakaw o pagsasamantala sa kaban ng bayan. May alam ka bang Senador o Congresista na di nagsamantala sa kanilang position maliban marahil kay Manny Pacquiao?.
Kung titimbangin ko ang pagtuligsa ni De Lima, Hontiveros, Bam Aquino, etc. laban sa Pangulo, nababanaag mo ba ang tindi ng kabastusan tulad ng kabastusan at kayabangan ni Sen. Trillanes? Ito naman kaya ang dahilan kaya di siya nakaporma nang lumaban siya bilang VP nuong nakaraang eleksyon?
Tsaka, yung ibang contributors na nagsasabing troll ang kumontra sa article ng Society na ito, patawarin kayo sa pagbibintang..

CJM, salamat sa pagsagot. Hindi ba dapat sanay na tayo ngayon sa kabastusan? Sa pagmumura? sa kayabangan? Hindi ba ang pangulo ang una dyan? Kailangan ko pa bang isa-isahin, kabayan?
Tila yata naging sensitive tayo sa yabang at “kabastusan” ni Sen. Trillanes samantalang walang tatalo kay Mr. Duterte kung yabang at kabastusan lang. Bukod dito, sa mga nabanggit mo na mga batikos ng oposisyon ay hindi ba normal ito sa isang demokrasya? May alam po ba tayo na naging pangulo na walang oposisyon? Si Erap nga napatalsik. Si GMA naman nandyan sila Cayetano, Escudero atbp na walang puknat na kumakalaban noon. Nagkataon na si Sen. Trillanes ang pangunahing oposisyon ngayon buhat sa grupong Magdalo. Bakit? Baka may nakikita siya na hindi natin nakikita kagaya rin nung mga naunang presidente mula kay Aguinaldo o Bonifacio. Pero normal ito, gusto ko lamang ulitin. Bastos man o hindi ay maliit na bagay na lamang ito sa kasalukuyang nangyayari.
Ating hayaan na merong bumabatikos dahil kailangan natin ng check and balance. Hindi ko sinasabing santo si Sen. Trillanes pero mabuti na rin ang may oposisyon lalo na sa ganitong panahon na lahat gustong patahimikin. Oposisyon na kayang tumingin ng diretso at tamaan ang tatamaan. Iwas tayo sa pagiging sensitibo kung katiwalian naman ang gustong ilantad dahil lahat tayo ay makikinabang.

Without interviewing President Aquino, who authorized the back door effort, and knows what was attempted, you are prepared to judge a man’s character? I think you need to broaden your knowledge beyond what one person, or one political persuasion, is telling you . . . lest people think you are just trolling.
There is a posting going around with snippets of the hearing with Enrile and a similar interpretation to that of cjm – so it is likely that this is the troll messaging from “Central”.
Shows a certain desperation I think in trying to dig up stuff where they can’t find any.

Pure nonsense that Duterte is saying, that the waiver of Trillanes may be useless because of what Duterte alleges are “different versions of the name Jr, IV etc.” in the “accounts”.
In the Philippines, a negligible difference can cause at least half an hour of questioning, abroad it isn’t like that – proof of Duterte’s extreme provinciality. “Antonio Trillanes” in the waiver is perfectly fine. That and the date and place of birth will suffice in the international context.
I will foreward to reading the article on bank accounts. 2013 pa lang may group na nagsusulong ng Duterte for President at well funded ito. that’s all i can say because way back then they are recruiting members of the movement. my question then was who is funding this?

If I observe things correctly many — and this includes some of us at TSH — are watching and analyzing the trends relating to where Duterte and his minions are leading the country, and those opposing him. It is relevant to ask if the two trends will intersect at a critical tipping point. Senator Trillanes is certainly instrumental in working towards some tipping point.
Having said that, of the “six honest serving men” of Rudyard Kipling, we may set aside the what, why and who for now. But ask only the when, where and how?

Glad that you find the blog meaningful, JEM. I’m banned on GRP because back in, oh, 2009 or 2010, I called benigno a hypocrite. So I no longer visit there, but did smile when they made the list of fake news sites. We have some good minds here, bound to civility and laws, but most have absolutely zero political affiliation. So there is nothing to gain from commenting except the well-being of the Philippines.
They blocked me as well after our heated argument with Ilda. GRP is a sponsored blog of Marcoses its evident so it’s pointless to read their well cooked article spreading nothing but hate and discontent. Trillanes is the best we can have as star opposition. He has got that determination and conviction to see us through to the end. I have seen how the Magdalo group behaves in supporting organize a political forum in Cebu City recently, they are ‘all officers and gentlemen.’
I’ve also noticed that he is becoming more dynamic in how he speaks, adding some character to his comments to media. That’s good.
